Records from the "Post Returns," "Medical history of Posts," "Field Records of Hospitals," and "Reservation Files" series of the Office of the Adjutant General and "Consolidated Correspondence" of the Office of the Quartermaster General relating to Forts Dodge, Harker, Hays, Larned, Scott, Wallace, and Zarah. "Field Records of Hospitals" consists of post hospital records and "Reservation Files" contain documents relating to the establishment, construction, maintenance, and abandonment of posts. Roll MS 255 includes medical records of Fort Leavenworth, 1884-1887.

Fort Arbuckle was built in the Indian Territory of Oklahoma on April 19, 1851 and was formally designated a fort in June 1851. It was established by the U.S. Army to protect the region's relocated Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes from raids by Kiowa and Comanche Indians. The fort was also visited by wagon trains of Mormons and other emigrants enroute to the California gold fields.
